Description of Duties:

Each instructor is responsible to his/her Division Chair, Director, or Coordinator and then to the Vice-President of Instructional Services.

Specific duties include:

1. Serve as content area expert and through appropriate pedagogical approaches, conduct safe, engaging, and effective learning activities which foster student achievement of the stated course, program, and institutional outcomes.

2. Prepare, organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and places in accordance with the College catalog descriptions, course syllabi and outlines, stated delivery mode (F2F, ITV, online), and class schedule.

3. Participate in normal program/discipline administrative and maintenance activities including curriculum development and review for continuous improvement of courses, disciplines, and programs to meet the needs of both on-site and distance education students.

4. Prepare syllabi containing Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved outcomes for each course taught and update them on an annual basis through an evaluation of student achievement and input from students, advisory committees, professional associations, and other external sources (ACGM, WECM, GIPWE, etc).

5. Maintain accurate records of program/discipline majors, student attendance, student progress, grade distributions, and equipment and supplies.

6. Maintain accurate records of applicable student retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement, and transfer rates for program/discipline majors.

7. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

8. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc. which enhance subject matter expertise and professional growth, and improves instructional effectiveness.

9. Communicate through appropriate channels (Division Chair, Director, Coordinator, Vice-president of Instructional Services, and the President) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions.

10. Participate in policy making through service on task forces or committees as appointed or elected.

11. Cooperate with other VC personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College through active participation in recruiting, public relations, and marketing activities.

12. Participate in the academic advising of students and other College initiatives aimed at increasing student success as measured by retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement and transfer rates.

13. Participate in graduation, honors convocation, and special campus events.

14. Maintain scheduled office hours.

15. Organize and facilitate program advisory committee meetings where appropriate; work with the members of the committee to ensure that the program has adequate resources and a well-designed curriculum to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for employment.

16. Coordinate, with the Director of Library Services, the selection and maintenance of appropriate discipline/program specific library materials.

17. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate instructional administrator and the College President.

18. Along with these duties and responsibilities, the instructor has the authority to do the following (non-evaluation items): A. Suspend a student for one class period for disruptive behavior. B. Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades. C. Enforce the College's policies and procedures and the safety regulations of the discipline/program. E. Recommend a student for counseling. F. Initiate requisitions and work order requests. G. Suspend unsafe operations.

Travel Required: Wichita Falls and Vernon

Experience and Training: Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Texas. Minimum of three years experience in a clinical setting.

Education: Master's degree in nursing or a Bachelor's degree in nursing currently enrolled in a Master's nursing education program with a minimum of 50% of the required credits toward the Master's degree in nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively. Current CPR certification. Flexibility with hours. Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to promote an effective learning environment for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in nursing and two years teaching experience. Three years medical/surgical nursing experience preferred. 

Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing with 50% required hours towards graduate nursing degree.

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 9 month position with full time benefits. The salary range is $38,628 - $45,479 based on education and experience. This position will be open until filled. Position is available immediately.

Description of Duties: The Athletic Trainer will be a part of the Department of Athletics and will work under the direction of the Division Chair reporting to the Athletic Director.

1. To teach athletic training courses as assigned.

2. To supervise student trainers in the classroom, training room, and at other sites.

3. To develop, direct, and administer an athletic training facility.

4. To provide athletic training support services for all athletic programs at the college.

5. To develop and administer an annual budget for the athletic training facility and instructional program.

6. To travel with athletic teams as assigned.

7. To order, maintain, and update training supplies.

8. To coordinate athletic students insurance.

9. To recruit students to the Athletic Trainer Program.

10. To function as a team member in the Department of Athletics and the Division of Student Services in the development and implementation of processes necessary to accomplish the goals and philosophy of the division and the college.

11. To assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Instructional Services, Athletic Director, and/or the College President.

Travel required: Some to various events

Experience and Training: BOC certification or eligible, Texas State License or eligible, and 1 -3 years experience. However, new grads and young professionals are encouraged to apply.

Education: Master's preferred, minimum Bachelor's in Athletic Training or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Provide athletic training and emergency care for athletic related injuries. Treatment, rehabilitation and modality usage. Assist with drug screening. Past knowledge and use of SportsWare.

Preferred Qualifications: First Aid/CPR Certified and/or Instructor. Some teaching may be required. Highly organized, great work ethic and willingness to become part of a very cohesive team.

Salary or Salary Range: This is an 11 month full time position with full time benefits. The salary range is $46,222 to $53,581 depending on education and experience. Description of Duties:

The individual will help be responsible for all aspects of the intercollegiate softball program at Vernon College. Duties to include, but not limited to:

1. To aid in the organizing and implement recruiting to maintain a competitive softball team.

2. To aid with game schedule

3. Help manage the Softball budget

4. Promote development of responsibility, character, and appropriate behavior of student-athletes.

Other duties include:

1. Assisting with intramurals and student activities as requested and encourage community involvement.

2. Aid in fundraising efforts.

Travel Required: Yes. Travel details: games, conferences and regional meetings as well as recruiting trips.

Experience and Training: A minimum of 2 years coaching experience in softball.

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: CDL required of ability t attain license within 6 months of employment. Field maintenance and upkeep a plus. Ability to properly mark a field for play.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred playing experience at the collegiate level.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Classified II, Faculty Assistant, position reports to the Director of Associate Degree Nursing and is responsible for secretarial duties in support of the instructional program. Specific duties include:

1. Typing and maintaining official school correspondence, minutes of standing committees, purchase orders, travel requisitions, and supply requisitions.

2. Compiling and entering information required for the annual reports of the Board of Nurse Examiners, and the National League of Nursing.

3. Maintaining commonly used supplies for the function of the office.

4. Receiving visitors, answering the telephone, conveying messages to the students, the faculty, and the Director.

5. Typing and reproducing course outlines, examinations, syllabi, and other materials for the instructional program.

6. Maintaining correspondence and admissions files.

7. Periodically completing an inventory of files and recommending that certain items be discarded.

8. Assisting the Director in compiling and maintaining accurate records, including student applications and transcripts, physical examinations, licensure verification, nursing certification, records on former and current students, contracts with various agencies, attendance records and reports, and other information.

9. Coordinating the admissions procedures and files with the Admissions Office on campus.

10. Supervising testing of all potential nursing students.

11. Supervising work study, lab assistants, and computer laboratory.

12. Performing other duties as requested by the Director and the faculty which may be unique to the position.

The EMS Coordinator/Instructor reports to the Dean of Instructional Services and is responsible for the following functions:

1. Coordinate and supervise the Emergency Medical Services program and associated personnel at all locations in accordance with the philosophy of the College. Serve as spokesperson, promote interdepartmental cooperation and effective communication within the programs and among regional coordinators, cooperators, and clinical sites to assure the continuity and quality of courses and programs.

2. Cooperate and coordinate with the Vernon and Wichita Falls Fire Departments to conduct EMS training.

3. Assume the instructional duties and responsibilities of faculty in serving as program instructor for EMS program and supervise clinical rotations.

4. Project personnel needs of the program, recruit qualified and appropriately credentialed candidates for positions, and participate in the search committee process for new employees.

5. Orient all personnel assigned to the program to their duties and responsibilities and to the resources available to support their assignment.

6. Coordinate the preparation of class schedules for each term, including continuing education and specialty courses (PPPC, Skills Instructor, Instructor, ACLS, etc.), in accordance with the College calendar and assign program instructors to teaching roles according to the needs of the College and the capabilities, preparation, experience, and preference of the instructor.

7. Assist the instructional administrator in projecting program budgetary needs, establishing laboratory and special fees, and implementing program revisions through the approved institutional processes. Coordinate the procurement of all instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.

8. Assist the instructional administrator in the evaluation of faculty performance, both academically and clinically, and make recommendations to the Dean of Instructional Services regarding the continuation of employment of all program personnel.

9. Work with program Advisory Committees in reviewing the program's syllabi to ensure consistency with the institutional mission and that textbooks, teaching methods and techniques, course content, course and program outcomes, assessment procedures, and licensure/certification pass rates are appropriate and consistent within the program and meet or exceed program accreditation standards.

10. Coordinate course and/or program development, evaluation, and revision as needed to meet the needs of both on-site and distance education students served by the program.

11. Maintain up-to-date academic records on each student and make these records available to the Office of Admissions and Records.

12. Plan and arrange Advisory Committee meetings and work with the members of the committee to ensure that the program has adequate resources and a well-designed curriculum to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for employment.

13. Participate in the academic advising of students and other College initiatives aimed at increasing student success as measured by retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement, and transfer rates.

14. Assist and advise the instructional administrator in resolving grade disputes, student complaints, and grievances.

15. Submit all documents required by the Texas Department of State Health Services, U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Administration, and other applicable federal, state, and local agencies.

16. Establish a format for formal evaluation of the curriculum based on objective criteria including: achievement of course and program outcomes; student's academic records; standardized exam scores; results of the state and National Registry Licensure Examination; and other appropriate measures as established by the VC program review process and/or accreditation standards.

17. Cooperate with other VC administrative personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College through effective recruiting, public relations, and marketing activities.

18. Assume special responsibilities and/or serve on committees as assigned by the Dean of Instructional Services, Vice-President of Instructional Services, and the President.

Experience and Training: National Registry and state of Texas Paramedic Certification

Education: Currently licensed Paramedic

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Field experience as a paramedic, ability to work with accreditation agencies an community leaders. CPR certified, knowledgeable in delivery of pre-hospital care, well organized, proficient in Microsoft office applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Must obtain a Texas EMS instructor certification, and an American Heart Association instructor certification.

The Custodial Technician is responsible to the Supervisor of Custodians.

Specific duties include:

1. To perform activities as necessary to maintain buildings in a clean, orderly, and comfortable condition.

2. To assume primary responsibility for maintaining cleanliness of assigned areas.

3. To maintain and utilize all conventional custodial equipment and tools necessary to performing custodial tasks.

4. To be responsible for informing the Supervisor of Custodians of any supplies or equipment needs necessary to perform the assigned duties.

5. To inform the Supervisor of Custodians of any special physical needs of the areas assigned.

6. To notify the proper authorities of security violations.

7. To maintain the cleanliness of all entrance and exits to buildings.

8. To assist in removing snow from walkways, entrances, and exits during winter months.

9. To assist in the general maintenance and operation of all areas of the physical plant.

10. To be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.

11. To be able to operate electrical machines used in routine custodial duties such as vacuum cleaners, strippers, and buffers.

12. To assume special responsibilities on assignment by the Supervisor of Custodians and/or the Director of Physical Plant.

Experience and Training: Experience or training in building cleaning and maintenance to include use of custodial equipment.

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform activities on buildings related to maintaining clean, orderly and comfortable conditions including safe operation of machinery and tools. Be responsible to maintain supplies, assist with general maintenance and assume special responsibilities as assigned. Be available after hours for special events or certain emergency situations.

PART-TIME CULINARY ARTS INSTRUCTOR

Vernon College is seeking a part-time Culinary instructor to teach the Vernon College Culinary Academy program. This is an hourly position. Qualified applicants must have at least 5 years of experience in restaurant management, cooking, and baking.  Applicant must be a Servsafe instructor, or willing to become Servesafe certified prior to the start of the Culinary/Hospitality program.  Applicants must be comfortable creating and executing lesson plans, teaching adults, and recruiting students. Formal Culinary training is preferred.

Description of Duties: Skills lab instructors are responsible for assisting in the education of entry-level EMTs, AEMT & Paramedic students. Skills include advanced airway placement, IV start, and drug administration. Subcutaneous and intra muscular injections. Spinal mobile restriction, hemorrhage control, and shock management. Simple airway adjuncts and airway techniques.

Travel Required: No

Experience and Training: Applicant must hold current and valid certification with the Texas Department of State Health Services for emergency medical services or currently Licensed as a Registered Nurse with emergency or Critical care experience. Registered Respiratory Therapists are also considered for certain course materials.

Education: Required initial education for their current certification level. All applicants must hold a current and valid certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: EMT and AEMT applicants will be required to hold a current AHA BLS card Paramedic, RN applicants will be required to hold a current AHA BLS and ACLS card.

Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of adult learning theories.

Experience and Training: Commercial Driver's License with a three (3) year safe driving record. Three years verifiable Over The Road experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of all motor vehicles especially truck and trailer laws. Ability to communicate with a diverse population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Night program - 3 evenings a week with synchronous online format using Zoom or TEAMS & Canvas LMS**

Teach Court Reporting students using Magnum Steno Theory and utilizing EV 360 software

perform student evaluations

Classroom management

Other duties with regard to Court Reporting training

Salary: $25 per hour dependent upon teaching schedule

Experience and Training: TX CSR certified

Adjunct

Vernon College is seeking an adjunct Certified Nurse Aid instructor.  Texas Department of Health and Human Services requires the program instructor of the classroom and clinical hours to be a minimum of:

               Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse

 

  1. The nurse instructor must have:
  1. A minimum of two years nursing experience. 
  1. A minimum of one year nursing experience in caring for individuals in a long-term care setting,

    And/or

  2. Experience working for hospice and be assigned to residents in long-term care setting

    And/or

  3. Experience working for home health and be assigned to residents in long-term care setting

  4. Be an instructor in a school of nursing or for a facility training program in charge of supervising students in long-term care setting.

Vernon College is seeking an adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor. The program is held on M/W from 2-9pm.  Instructor must be licensed Phlebotomist or Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse.  Instructor must be CPR certified (BLS) and teaching experience is preferred.  

Vernon College is seeking an adjunct Massage Therapy Instructor. Person must have the following:

* Be a current licensed massage therapist

* Have been engaged in the practice of massage therapy for at least one year and have conducted 500 hours of hands-on experience (does not include internship hours) 

* Must have a high school diploma, a general equivalence diploma (GED)

*Complete a 30-hour course on teaching adult learners. Course attended may include an instructional certification program, a college level course in teaching adult learners, a continuing education course in teaching adult learners, or an advanced program approved by the department in teaching the course of instruction.

                                                        Duties:

The instructor will be responsible for day clinical instruction of vocational nursing students. The candidate will also be responsible for student advising, and tracking student attendance and progress. Some travel will be required.

The ability to promote an effective clinical/lab learning environment for student from diverse cultures and backgrounds is a must.

2. Prepare, organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and places in accordance with the College catalog descriptions, course syllabi and outlines, stated delivery mode (F2F, ITV, hybrid, online), and class schedule. All distance education courses shall adhere to the Principles of Good Practice for Degree and Certificate Programs and Courses Offered through Distance Education. See Policy Manual, EBA (Legal).

3. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, student progress, grade distributions, and equipment and supplies.

4. Develop appropriate course outline(s) using VC official format.

5. Actively participate in the application of institutional policies and processes, including roster certification, Early Alert submissions, grade submissions, and completion of ESCR.

6. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

7. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc. which enhance subject matter expertise and professional growth, and improves instructional effectiveness.

8. Communicate through appropriate channels (Division Chair, Director, Coordinator, Vice-President of Instructional Services, and the President) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions.

9. Cooperate with other VC personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College. Along with these duties and responsibilities, the instructor has the authority to do the following (non evaluation items):

A. Suspend a student for one class period for disruptive behavior.

B. Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades.

C. Enforce the College's policies and procedures and the safety regulations of the discipline/program.

D. Recommend a student for counseling.

E. Initiate requisitions and work order requests.

F. Suspend unsafe operations.

Experience and Training: Must have an unencumbered licensure as a current Certified Surgical Technologist in Texas. Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting.

Education: Graduated with CST from an accredited program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must know all surgical services and perform to the national standard. Ability to communicate effectively. Flexibility with hours. Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to promote an effective clinical/lab learning environment for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. 

Preferred Qualifications:  CST with experience in the Operating room in all surgical services.
