Full Time

Faculty/Instructor - Nursing: Duties and Responsibilities: Each instructor is responsible to his/her Division Chair, Director, or Coordinator and then to the Vice-President of Instructional Services. This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215)

Specific duties include:

1. Serve as content area expert and through appropriate pedagogical approaches, conduct safe, engaging, and effective learning activities which foster student achievement of the stated course, program, and institutional outcomes.

2. Prepare, organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and places in accordance with the College catalog descriptions, course syllabi and outlines, stated delivery mode (F2F, ITV, online), and class schedule.

3. Participate in activities necessary to obtain and/or maintain Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) approval and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accreditation.

4. Participate in preparation and implementation of clinical, lab, and simulation activities.

5. Prepare appropriate evaluation rubrics and documentation for student’s clinical, lab, simulation, and assignment participation and progress.

6. Provide tutoring and remediation activities to maintain and enhance student learning in accordance with TBON and ACEN recommendations.

7. Act as a formal representative of Vernon College and the Vernon College Nursing Programs in all interactions with clinical agencies.

8. Maintain/develop constructive relationships with current and potential clinical agencies.

9. Participate in normal program/discipline administrative and maintenance activities including curriculum development and review for continuous improvement of courses, disciplines, and programs to meet the needs of both on-site and distance education students.

10. Prepare syllabi containing Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved outcomes for each course taught and update them on an annual basis through an evaluation of student achievement and input from students, advisory committees, professional associations, and other external sources (ACGM, WECM, GIPWE, etc).

11. Maintain accurate records of program/discipline majors, student attendance, student progress, grade distributions, and equipment and supplies.

12. Maintain accurate records of applicable student retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement, and transfer rates for program/discipline majors.

13. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

14. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc. which enhance subject matter expertise and professional growth, and improves instructional effectiveness. Communicate through appropriate channels (Division Chair, Director, Coordinator, Vice- President of Instructional Services, and the President) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions.

15. Maintain professional licensure in accordance with TBON Rules and Regulations.

16. Participate in policy making through service on task forces or committees as appointed or elected.

17. Cooperate with other VC personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College through active participation in recruiting, public relations, and marketing activities.

18. Participate in the academic advising of students and other College initiatives aimed at increasing student success as measured by retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement and transfer rates.

19. Participate in graduation, honors convocation, and special campus events.

20. Maintain scheduled office hours.

21. Organize and facilitate program advisory committee meetings where appropriate; work with the members of the committee to ensure that the program has adequate resources and a well-designed curriculum to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for employment.

22. Coordinate, with the Director of Library Services, the selection and maintenance of appropriate discipline/program specific library materials.

23. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate instructional administrator and the College President.

24. Along with these duties and responsibilities, the instructor has the authority to do the following (non-evaluation items):

A. Suspend a student for one class period for disruptive behavior.

B. Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades.

C. Enforce the College’s policies and procedures and the safety regulations of the discipline/program.

D. Recommend a student for counseling.

E. Initiate requisitions and work order requests.

F. Suspend unsafe operations.

Travel Required: Wichita Falls and Vernon

Experience and Training: Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Minimum of three years experience in a clinical setting. 

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree in nursing with completion of bachelor's degree within 5 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively. Current CPR certification. Flexibility with hours. Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to promote an effective learning environment for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing and two years teaching experience. Three years medical/surgical and/or long-term care preferred.   

Minimum Educational Qualifications: Associate's degree in nursing with completion of bachelor's degree within 5 years.

Maximum Educational Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 12 month position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on the faculty salary scale. The starting step is a step 3. Student Success Specialist:

Duties & Responsibilities

Administrative Assistant, Vice President of Instructional Services: Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Administrative Assistant is responsible to the Vice President of Instructional Services and will perform tasks in support of the Instructional Services with a college-wide emphasis. This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215)

Specific duties include:

Distribute all inter-office mail from CCC; gather and sort all incoming Vice President of Instructional Services correspondence and U.S. mail, answer and screen phone calls, greet visitors and route to appropriate personnel; inventory and order office supplies for Instructional Services, and forms as needed; and field questions by students, faculty, and the general public.

  1. Arrange meetings; schedule appointments with supervisor.
  2. Accurately prepare reports and correspondence and maintain a high degree of tact and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
  3. Assist the Vice President of Instructional Services and the Dean with annual catalog revisions.
  4. Prepare committee agenda packets, minutes, etc. and relay approved changes for catalog revisions.
  5. Process load and listing procedures and documentation for the Vice President of Instructional Services to review each term.
  6. Process and maintain Miscellaneous Room Schedule utilizing Room/Facility Reservations submitted through roomrequest@vernoncollege.edu for all locations. Forward room reservation forms to appropriate personnel regarding maintenance, technology, etc.
  7. Prepare final exam schedule for all locations.
  8. Possess knowledge and skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, access, In Design, and other software applications. Participate in training opportunities as available to increase computer skills.
  9. Assist Vice President of Instructional Services with SACSCOC documentation and requirements.
  10. Prepare monthly budget transfers for Vice President of Instructional Services.
  11. Prepare documents for purchasing of equipment, supplies, and/or services.
  12. Prepare minutes of meetings as requested by the Vice President of Instructional Services and post to the website.
  13. Assist with the preparation of Instructional Services academic calendar, academic proposals and revisions, and other selected reports.
  14. Maintain Watermark Faculty Success database including keeping faculty roster and credentials up to date, uploading Scheduled Teaching reports each semester,  preparing and scheduling workflows in order to utilize the Annual Review process, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise. 
  15. Maintain Watermark Curriculum Management database workflows regarding program and course changes as they pertain to Academic Council.
  16. Compile information for yearly program/discipline evaluation process.
  17. Maintain Professional Travel expense line for reconciling purposes.
  18. Maintain a high degree of tact and digression when dealing with confidential information.
  19. Maintain general files and purge when necessary.
  20. Serve as a backup administrative assistant for the President.
  21. Serve as backup for incoming/outgoing mail distribution.
  22. Serve as point of contact for Meals on Wheels for Instructional Services, Vernon Campus.
  23. Assume other duties or assignments by the Vice-President of Instructional Services and/or the President.

Experience and Training: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel; 3-5 years' experience working in a fast paced office setting

Education: Associate Degree preferred in business related field

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 12 month position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on 295 points on the Administrative salary schedule. Hourly

Description of Duties: Skills lab instructors are responsible for assisting in the education of entry-level EMTs, AEMT & Paramedic students. Skills include advanced airway placement, IV start, and drug administration. Subcutaneous and intra muscular injections. Spinal mobile restriction, hemorrhage control, and shock management. Simple airway adjuncts and airway techniques.

Travel Required: No

Experience and Training: Applicant must hold current and valid certification with the Texas Department of State Health Services for emergency medical services or currently Licensed as a Registered Nurse with emergency or Critical care experience. Registered Respiratory Therapists are also considered for certain course materials.

Education: Required initial education for their current certification level. All applicants must hold a current and valid certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: EMT and AEMT applicants will be required to hold a current AHA BLS card Paramedic, RN applicants will be required to hold a current AHA BLS and ACLS card.

Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of adult learning theories.

1. Teach students how to drive safely in a variety of Class A and Class B vehicles.

2. Teach Safety check off on a variety of vehicles.

3. Show proper equipment maintenance.

4. Instruct how to shift, back and drive.

5. Teach D.O.T. requirements.

6. Perform student evaluations.

7. Motivate students to succeed.

8. Maintain necessary student records.

9. Classroom management.

10. Other duties with regard to instructing CDL training.

Experience and Training: Commercial Driver's License with a three (3) year safe driving record. Three years verifiable Over The Road experience.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of all motor vehicles especially truck and trailer laws. Ability to communicate with a diverse population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: CDL training/teaching experience preferred.

Description of Duties: Work as the Evening & Sunday Library Assistant at the Century City Center Library on Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Duties:

  1.  Assist faculty and students in locating, using, and checking-out materials in the library.

     

  2.  Provide library assistance in person, by phone, and online via email or live chat.

     

  3. Troubleshoot computer and printer problems.  Replace toner cartridges and reload the printer with paper.  

     

  4.  Assist students in accessing and searching article databases.

     

  5. Help students in filing Interlibrary Loan requests.

     

  6. Distribute TexShare cards to VC students and faculty.

     

  7. Assist students in using the computer (e.g., saving files to CD or USB devices) and using computer software (especially MS Office applications.).

     

  8. Perform basic shelf maintenance:  shelve books and straighten shelves

     

  9. Assist with group study room reservations.

     

    10. Complete other reports or assignments as requested.

Travel Required: No travel required

Salary: $10.00 per hour. This position is an as needed position it is not a full time position and is not awarded any benefits.

Adjunct

Vernon College is seeking an adjunct Certified Nurse Aid instructor.  Texas Department of Health and Human Services requires the program instructor of the classroom and clinical hours to be a minimum of:

               Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse

 

  1. The nurse instructor must have:
  1. A minimum of two years nursing experience. 
  1. A minimum of one year nursing experience in caring for individuals in a long-term care setting,

    And/or

  2. Experience working for hospice and be assigned to residents in long-term care setting

    And/or

  3. Experience working for home health and be assigned to residents in long-term care setting

    And/or

  4. Be an instructor in a school of nursing or for a facility training program in charge of supervising students in long-term care setting.

 

Teaching experience is preferred.

Vernon College-Vernon/Wichita Falls seeks an experienced Adjunct evening Accounting Instructor to teach at Century City Center.

Qualifications:


Hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting

Hold a Master’s degree and eighteen (18) graduate credit hours in Accounting courses

Vernon College is seeking an adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor. The program is held on M/W from 2-9pm.  Instructor must be licensed Phlebotomist or Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse.  Instructor must be CPR certified (BLS) and teaching experience is preferred.  

                                                        Duties:

The instructor will be responsible for day clinical instruction of vocational nursing students. The candidate will also be responsible for student advising, and tracking student attendance and progress. Some travel will be required.     

                                                  Qualifications:

The candidates must be a minimum of a Licensed Vocational Nurse with a current license to practice in Texas and at least two years nursing experience in a clinical setting.  VC prefers an Associate's Degree in Nursing with three years medical/surgical and/or long term care nursing experience. Must be able to communicate effectively, have a current CPR certification, and be flexible with hours. Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications are required. The ability to promote an effective clinical/lab learning environment for student from diverse cultures and backgrounds is a must.

Education: Graduated with CST from an accredited program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must know all surgical services and perform to the national standard. Ability to communicate effectively. Flexibility with hours. Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to promote an effective clinical/lab learning environment for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. 

Preferred Qualifications:  CST with experience in the Operating room in all surgical services.

Adjunct Faculty/Instructor:

Duties and Responsibilities: This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215) Each instructor is responsible to his/her Division Chair, Director, or Coordinator and then to the Vice-President of Instructional Services.

The major duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Serve as content area expert and through appropriate pedagogical approaches, conduct safe, engaging, and effective learning activities which foster student achievement of the stated course, program, and institutional outcomes.

2. Prepare, organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and places in accordance with the College catalog descriptions, course syllabi and outlines, stated delivery mode (F2F, ITV, hybrid, online), and class schedule. All distance education courses shall adhere to the Principles of Good Practice for Degree and Certificate Programs and Courses Offered through Distance Education. See Policy Manual, EBA (Legal).

3. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, student progress, grade distributions, and equipment and supplies.

4. Develop appropriate course outline(s) using VC official format.

5. Actively participate in the application of institutional policies and processes, including roster certification, Early Alert submissions, grade submissions, and completion of ESCR.

6. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

7. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc. which enhance subject matter expertise and professional growth, and improves instructional effectiveness.

8. Communicate through appropriate channels (Division Chair, Director, Coordinator, Vice-President of Instructional Services, and the President) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions.

9. Cooperate with other VC personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College. Along with these duties and responsibilities, the instructor has the authority to do the following (non evaluation items):

A. Suspend a student for one class period for disruptive behavior.

B. Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades. 

C. Enforce the College's policies and procedures and the safety regulations of the discipline/program.

D. Recommend a student for counseling.

E. Initiate requisitions and work order requests.

F. Suspend unsafe operations.

Experience and Training: Experience teaching English 1301 and teaching developmental level English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR)

Education: Masters in English or Masters plus 18 in English

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate these skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Learning Management Systems (LMS), Canvas, Blackboard and D2L

3. Participate in normal program/discipline administrative and maintenance activities including curriculum development and review for continuous improvement of courses, disciplines, and programs to meet the needs of both on-site and distance education students.

4. Prepare syllabi containing Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved outcomes for each course taught and update them on an annual basis through an evaluation of student achievement and input from students, advisory committees, professional associations, and other external sources (ACGM, WECM, GIPWE, etc).

5. Maintain accurate records of program/discipline majors, student attendance, student progress, grade distributions, and equipment and supplies.

6. Maintain accurate records of applicable student retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement, and transfer rates for program/discipline majors.

7. Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities. 8. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc. which enhance subject matter expertise and professional growth, and improves instructional effectiveness.

9. Communicate through appropriate channels (Division Chair, Director, Coordinator, VicePresident of Instructional Services, and the President) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions.

10. Participate in policy making through service on task forces or committees as appointed or elected.

11. Cooperate with other VC personnel in improving and promoting the image of the program and the College through active participation in recruiting, public relations, and marketing activities.

12. Participate in the academic advising of students and other College initiatives aimed at increasing student success as measured by retention, completion, graduation, licensure, placement and transfer rates.

13. Participate in graduation, honors convocation, and special campus events.

14. Maintain scheduled office hours.

15. Organize and facilitate program advisory committee meetings where appropriate; work with the members of the committee to ensure that the program has adequate resources and a well-designed curriculum to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for employment.

16. Coordinate, with the Director of Library Services, the selection and maintenance of appropriate discipline/program specific library materials.

17. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate instructional administrator and the College President.

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 9 month position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on the faculty salary scale. The salary is $39,699 based on education. This position will be available on August 1st.
